Tirta Gangga

A Royal Water Palace in East Bali.

Tirta Gangga is a beautiful former royal water palace located in the eastern part of Bali. Known for its elegant water gardens, stepping stones, and serene ponds filled with koi fish, it is one of the most photogenic places on the island. The name “Tirta Gangga” means “Water from the Ganges,” reflecting the sacredness of water in Balinese Hindu culture.

This peaceful garden complex is perfect for a leisurely stroll, photography, and learning about Bali’s royal heritage. The lush greenery, fountains, and artistic statues make Tirta Gangga a relaxing escape for travelers seeking beauty and tranquility.

Tirta Gangga was built in 1946 by the royal family of Karangasem. It served as a place for relaxation and meditation for the king and his family. Despite being damaged by the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963, it has been restored and preserved as one of Bali’s cultural treasures.
